Dear Bridgeton Residents,
With the support of my wife and family, I have decided to seek another term as Mayor of the City of Bridgeton in the April 5, 2011 election. I am very proud of the progress our City has recently made and I wish to build on this progress.
Following intense negotiations over several years, the Cities of Bridgeton and St. Louis reached an agreement in 2007, settling all outstanding litigation. This agreement provided the funding for the New Government Center, which our City now occupies. Also Bridgeton is making tremendous progress in the area of economic development. The City has finalized the zoning requirements and approved the necessary permits for the new Wal-Mart Super Center, to be located on the former Grandpa Pigeon’s site. Already three new restaurants have opened in this immediate area.
Despite recent and current economic challenges, Bridgeton has avoided layoffs and has not reduced services. Our City remains financially strong. We have a 0% personal property tax rate and a token real property tax of 16 cents (per hundred), which is one of the lowest in the Metro area. These rates have remained unchanged as long as I have been involved in the City. In spite of very strong opposition on major metropolitan issues I have been able to maintain a very professional image for the City. In fact many applicants have commented on how professional Bridgeton meetings are conducted.
Bridgeton is one of the best-kept secrets in St. Louis County. We need to show pride in our community by talking about its many outstanding features. We have an outstanding park system and services for our residents. Many developers have complemented the city on the professional atmosphere and the assistance provided by our staff. I have and will continue to fight hard for Bridgeton and take pride in serving the City of Bridgeton.
Progress, Professionalism and Pride are the keywords that describe my approach as Mayor. I believe the City of Bridgeton is moving in a positive direction and again I believe I can keep Bridgeton moving forward.
Sincerely, Conrad Bowers

Mayor Bowers is pleased with the progress Bridgeton has made since the setback created by airport expansion. The City of Bridgeton has settled all litigation with the airport, constructed a new government center and is making progress with economic development in our city. Even with the unfavorable economic conditions the City of Bridgeton has been able to improve city services and avoid reductions of city personnel.

During the next four years it is critical that Bridgeton continue with economic development and sound financial practices established during Mayor Bowers administration.
